The Friends of St Peter's Cathedral is open to anyone who shares a common desire to celebrate the Cathedral and to promote the work the Cathedral does for the Diocese and Community at large.

'The Friends' will help support the maintenance and development of the Cathedral so we can ensure its use for generations yet to come.

'The Friends' will not simply exist as a fundraising body, while that is vitally important. They will also share in the life of the Cathedral by their interest, prayers and service. 'The Friends' will also help in the promotion of St Peter's Cathedral as a living church and to develop it as a place of evangelisation whenever possible.

The Cathedral was founded on the tradition of the great Catholic martyrs who died in Lancaster because of their belief in God and love of His Church.  It is important that the Cathedral continues to give witness to that tradition, while at the same time develops ways of reaching out into the community of today.

'The Friends' will help the Cathedral to develop the mission of the Church throughout the diocese.  I warmly commend you to play an important role in the development of this remarkable Cathedral and become a Friend of St Peter's Cathedral.

With every best wish,

Rt. Rev. Patrick O'Donoghue
