On 29th April 1857, the foundation stone of St Peter's church was blessed. 150 years on, the Cathedral Church of St Peter is home to a vibrant and growing parish community.


Situated near the heart of this historic city, the Cathedral serves as a city centre parish, as a focal point for the diocese, and as a place of prayer for local people and visitors to Lancaster.


The Cathedral also hosts a number of concerts and cultural events, and is welcoming more and more visitors through its doors.

St Peter's, 1859-2009

October 7th: Feast of the Dedication

The 148th anniversary of the dedication of the Cathedral will be marked on 7th October. The main celebration is at 10:30am Mass, followed by a parish buffet lunch. Members of the Cathedral chapter will attend Vespers at 4:40pm.
