Curious about Scripture? 2007-2008

Beginning in October 2007, the Cathedral spends a year looking more closely at the Bible. In the pages of scripture we have a record of how God gradually revealed Himself to His people, culminating in the fullness of revelation brought by Jesus Christ. That revelation is still alive and active in the Church that Christ founded.

Over this year we all have a chance to learn more. Whether a newcomer to the Bible or one who often reads but still has questions, this could be an opportunity for you to deepen your knowledge of God’s living Word.

Main features:

A series of talks, running throughout the year, exploring different aspects of the Bible. More details here.

Information on the Cathedral newsletter. Each week there will be a brief introduction to a book of the Bible; there will also be a feature called ‘the flesh and blood of the Bible’, in which a different word/topic (e.g. bread, shepherd, water, vine, harvest) will be explored, based on its use in scripture.

St John’s Gospel will be explored during the spirituality session at the ‘Drop-in for Prayer’ days at St Thomas More’s (off Willow Lane, Lancaster). The sessions take place on the second Monday of the month, 7:30-9pm. For more details, please call 01524 32616.

Other resources will be made available during the year. Details of these and any extra events/talks will be posted here.
