St Thérèse visit to Lancaster Cathedral: programme

 

Monday 28th September

4:00pm Liturgy of welcome (The relics will be received by Bishop Campbell)

6:00pm Sung Vespers

7:30pm Sung Mass (Bishop Campbell will preside and preach)

9:00pm Sung Compline

10:00pm Start of all-night vigil (there will be a programme for religious/clergy, but all are welcome)

 

Tuesday 29th September

6:00am Mass to end all-night vigil (followed by breakfast in the Social Centre)

7:00am Office of Readings

8:30am Morning Prayer

12noon Angelus and Midday prayer

12:15pm Mass

6:00pm Sung Vespers

7:30pm Sung Mass (Bishop Campbell will preside and there will be a guest preacher)

9:00pm Sung Compline

10:00pm Start of all-night vigil (this vigil has been prepared for youth, but everyone is welcome)

 

Wednesday 30th September

6:00am Mass to end all-night vigil (followed by breakfast in the Social Centre)

7:00am Office of Readings

8:30am Morning Prayer

9:30am Sung Mass (Bishop Campbell will preside and preach)

11:00am Departure of the relics (Bishop Campbell)

 

All the public Liturgies will be proper to St Thérèse.

 

Those priests wishing to concelebrate please let the Cathedral office know that you are coming – for seating arrangements – and please bring an alb and white stole. (Canons, and Honorary Canons, please let the Office know if you intend to concelebrate)

 

For the Liturgy of the Hours – sheets will be provided.  Priests or deacons, who would like to sit in choir (cassock and cotta) are welcome; again for seating arrangements please let the Cathedral office know you’re coming. (Canons, and Honorary Canons, please let the Office know if you intend to sit in choir)

 

In and around the Cathedral:

A Life of Thérèse – short film loop – will be continually shown; catechists will also be on site

St Thérèse Garden open throughout the visit

Confessions will be available throughout the visit

Devotions: resources for visiting parish groups and individuals will be available

Hospitality/light refreshments will be offered throughout

Information about Missionary works and activities will be on display

A relevant bookstand will be available

A programme of activities for school groups will be provided (booking for this is essential)
