Visiting Saint Thérèse of Lisieux in Lancaster: Practical Information 28th-30th September 2009 |
Transport and Parking Arrangements
Driving to the Cathedral Exit the motorway (at Jct 33 if coming from the south, and Jct 34 if coming from the north) and follow signs for Lancaster/City Centre. Once on the one-way system keep an eye open for the brown tourist signs marked ‘Cathedral’. See also instructions for parking, below.
Arriving by Coach Coaches will be using the Nelson Street Car Park close to the Cathedral. Drivers should follow the direction of stewards on site. A full set of instructions has been sent out to all coach parties in advance of the visit. If you are organising a coach it is essential that you let us know in advance.
Car Parking During the visit there is no on-site parking and only very limited street parking around the Cathedral. Further, the Nelson Street Car Park (opposite the Polish Church, just below the Cathedral) will be closed to cars throughout the visit. There are a number of other car parks close by.
Car Parking Map and Charges Lancaster City Council’s website has a map showing all the car parks in the area. The Cathedral is not on the map, but is just to the right hand side of the image, where Nelson Street meets the canal. Car Park number 6 is closed to cars throughout the visit; numbers 11-14 are the best option. Up to four hours parking costs £3.20, with lower rates for shorter stays.
You can find the map by clicking here.
Arriving by Train The Cathedral is approximately 10 minutes’ walk from Lancaster Railway Station, and is signposted with pedestrian signs throughout the city centre. Keep an eye open for the 240ft spire!
