Visiting Saint Thérèse of Lisieux in Lancaster: Practical Information

28th-30th September 2009

What do I need to bring?

Here are some suggestions of things that you might need to bring with you:

Petitions

There will be a box for petitions near to the relics. You may wish to bring written petitions from relatives or friends. Please make sure that there is no money included with petitions, as they will be burned after the event.

Appropriate Clothing

It is possible that the queue to visit the relics may extend outside of the Cathedral, or that the Cathedral may be full during some liturgies. In case you need to stand outside (or in case you have to walk from coach/car parks to the Cathedral) it might be wise to bring some warm and waterproof clothing.

Food and Drink

Light refreshments will be provided throughout the visit in the Cathedral Social Centre, but you may also like to bring some food and/or drink if you are here for any length of time. Please note that food and drink may not be consumed anywhere within the Cathedral.

Money for Souvenirs, Donations etc.

There will be things to buy on site, including candles and roses. You may like to bring home religious items or souvenirs, or if you would like to make a donation towards the cost of this event.

Information for Priests

Priests wishing to concelebrate at Mass will need an alb and white stole. Priests intending to sit in choir for the Divine Office will need a cassock and cotta. Please let us know in advance if you plan to concelebrate/sit in choir. If you are working outside of the Diocese of Lancaster, it would be helpful for you to bring a celebret or some other suitable identification, particularly if you would like to hear confessions during the visit.
